College and High School Student Participants
Rise Together places students at the forefront of programming by threading their authentic voice throughout all aspects of our work. Under the guidance of Rise Together professional educators, undergraduate mentors co-design curriculum that gives first-generation, low-income high school students access to college mentorship and guidance. Programming enables undergraduate mentors and 11-12 grade high school students to simultaneously develop knowledge and skills that help them reach their academic and career goals.
College StudentsAre you a college student looking to make a lasting impact on a high school student while also gaining leadership and career readiness skills that will help you reach your goals?
Rise Together's innovative and adaptive near-peer mentorship model relies on teams of undergraduate student mentors to share their voice and experiences throughout all aspects of programming. Rise Together provides a tiered leadership model for college students who want to serve as mentors, team leaders, and program coordinators during one or more of our three semesters (Fall/Spring/Summer). Throughout the semester, mentors work alongside Rise Together professional staff to co-create a fluid and responsive curriculum that meets the evolving needs of high school students. Mentors are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide exceptional college/financial aid guidance, scholarship information, career readiness, and social and emotional skill development for mentees. High School StudentsAre you a high school junior or senior juggling academics, family/ personal responsibilities and the college admissions process? Are you looking for a program that listens to and incorporates your voice into all aspects of your college search/ application and financial aid process?
Rise Together provides FGLI, LD and aspiring student athletes with the college, financial aid/scholarship, career and personal guidance needed to successfully navigate their transition from high school to college. Rise Together matches students with a mentoring team AND one college mentor who understands their journey. Mentors work with Rise Together's professional staff to ensure each high school student carves a clear path toward the college that best meets their academic vision and financial needs. Since many students have family and job responsibilities outside of school, remote programming is offered on week-day nights and weekends. This enables cohort members to easily access their mentor and take the time needed to focus on their college search. |
Parents
Parents best understand their student, but oftentimes families are looking for support to better understand the college application process and identify financial aid/ scholarship opportunities. Rise Together collaborates with families to strength a student’s high school experience, identify colleges/universities that best meet the student’s needs, and prepare students to thrive at the college level. Further, when looking toward college, parents are often concerned about their student’s readiness, what questions to ask when selecting a college, supports that exist at the college level, and how to support their student's transition to life beyond high school.
