High School Student Experience
The last two years of high school can be the most stressful and frustrating. School is more challenging and you have no idea what will happen next. You may be considering a lot of different options; college, community college, the military, working and/or taking a gap year. Read below about how Rise Together can support you.
Rise Together Pathways Program
High school juniors and seniors do not need to work alone when striving to reach their college and career goals. Students who participated in Rise Together's remote 12-week Pathways program reported 100% confidence with the college application process after the program. Teams of trained college mentors and Rise Together professional staff members create small group and individual matches that are tailored to meet 11-12th grade students' college guidance needs. Throughout the program, six guest speakers are invited to speak with students so the college and financial aid process is demystified and manageable. Speakers often include admissions counselors, financial aid counselors, college faculty members, career professionals, school counselors and QuestBridge and/or Posse representatives.
High school student cohorts are formed knowing that managing the college admissions process with others is more fun and less stressful than working alone. By the end of each semester, a student has a team of support and a clear vision of how to further their journey from high school to college.

Testimonials
This experience was extremely helpful and informative and without it I don't think I would be as prepared for college and as informed about it. My mentor was a fantastic help and provided a lot of support for the college process, such as helping me with my essays. The guest speakers were such a great help and provided a lot of insight into college. The program was very neat and organized and having Basecamp as the main website designated for communication was definitely a great idea. This experience has definitely prepared me to apply to college and I'm very thankful for it.

Virginia Tech Freshman, 2022
Rise Together has opened my eyes not only to the college admissions procedure but also to the inevitable nature of shortcomings that a student is bound to face when experiencing such a competitive process. This has helped me accept my weaknesses and motivated me to work harder in order to make my strengths stand out.

I feel comfortable sharing my stories with [my mentor] to work on the essays and also other parts of the application. Since [my mentor] comes from a very similar background to me, there are things that she knows I’d have to go through or am going through without me even mentioning it.
